# [Rodney Gardens]

The Rodney Gardens are an urban park located in the Kinnoull district of the Scottish city of Perth, situated on the eastern bank of the River Tay. Named after Admiral George Rodney, the gardens are located on the site of a former mill.

The gardens are known for their well-maintained flower beds, which bloom with impressive colors especially in spring and summer. A striking artwork within the grounds is the "Millais Viewpoint" by artist Tim Shutter. This sculpture, in the form of a stone picture frame, reconstructs the viewpoint of John Everett Millais' painting "Autumn Leaves" from 1856.

South of the Rodney Gardens lies the Kinnoull Burial Ground, a historic cemetery that was once part of an earlier version of the Kinnoull Parish Church. The gates of the cemetery are usually locked; however, visitors can borrow the key from the reception of the adjacent Rodney Fitness Centre to gain access.

The Rodney Gardens are part of the larger Riverside Parks and provide a peaceful retreat for walks and picnics along the River Tay. The facility is open year-round and admission is free.

Tucked away on a busy corner is a wonderful walk through very nice beds of Heather and other border plants. It's a shame the pavilion is not in use, but the car park is still available. The gardens overlook the river tay, and the paths lead you along its bank. Well worth a visit, hope the pavilion finds a user very soon, before any dramatic ideas are put in place.

We discovered this beautiful garden on a circular walk in Perth. It is a very peaceful oasis just away from a busy road. I think it was the variety, the details, smells that you encounter. The gardens are free to enter and well worth a visit.
